Historical Company | Italy
A family of 14 generations of winemakers and olive growers
We are in Puegnago del Garda to discover the #dietrolequintedellenza at "casa" Comincioli, yes, home is the correct term to define a historic structure that welcomes the essence of a family that has been carrying on a piece of their history for 14 generations.
The production of oil and wine we immediately realize that for them it is much more, tradition, attention to extreme detail and great pride, today the company is run by Gianfranco, the owner, with his wife Elisabetta and children Roberto and Andrew.

The family tree of the family welcomes us in a beautiful picture on the wall located in the historic cellar currently in an evolutionary phase, Roberto tells us and talks about his wines, Reds, Whites, Rosé wines and Spumanti, goes into detail explaining why they use certain barrels compared to others, but we would not want to take away the satisfaction of having them tell you about it directly, and therefore we will keep a little gem for us, even if we can reveal an aspect that has struck us very much, and it concerns red wines. At Comincioli they use only grapes from their vineyards, therefore rigorously made in Italy, and from the harvest to the whole process of treatment of the bunch they try to keep as much care as possible in working and handling the grape, however, where, in their opinion, the harvest was not (for a number of reasons such as climatic conditions) of a worthy level, they prefer not to go into production, this is how their red wine for three years now is only available in a limited edition. Within this small and splendid reality we find a Swiss organization, everything is perfectly positioned, and the cycle begins and ends within those walls, even the bottling, another anecdote, it can happen that the bottles of wine in general take excessive. flavor of cork, or that the imperfect closure of the cork can cause small bacterial contaminations that alter the flavor, for this reason they have decided in collaboration with a specialized company to use special corks that you will see in the photo, these have the ability to completely eliminate any risk of contamination and therefore variation in flavor and reduce waste thanks to the possibility of re-closing the bottle

The philosophy adopted to produce wine can also be found in the production of oil, small and extremely niche and let's also say that it has earned it some awards:
Hall of Fame Flos Olei 2020
Great Slow Food Oil 2019
5 drops Bibenda 2019

For 2021 Gambero Rosso's "3 Leaves" award wins with Casaliva, one of their most intense oils, because they have 4 different types: Leccino, Numero Uno, Terrae and Casaliva, perfect to satisfy all types of palates and flavor courses that vary from salty to sweet, Roberto told us.

The harvest takes place completely by hand and then follows a further selection that leads to a decrease of about 60/70% of the raw material, an exaggeration? no it is the pursuit of excellence, the Comincioli family has transmitted this desire to go forward respecting and paying homage to tradition, with an eye on evolution and growth.
